Professor Emeritus Nelcya Delanoë, of the University of Paris-Nanterre, presents a lecture and discussion of French anti-semitism and collaboration in the Holocaust during WWII.

In "A ‘Little' Round-up in Provence: French Anti-Semitism and WWII," Nelcya Delanoë, emeritus professor at the University of Paris-Nanterre, will talk about anti-Jewish roundups in 1942 and 1943 in Villeneuve-lez-Avignon. In 2009, having come across a 1942 Aragon poem that alluded to an anti-Jewish round-up in Villeneuve-lez-Avignon, professor Delanoë embarked on a local history of this incident, shedding new light on the Vichy regime, German occupiers, and French as well as foreign residents. The talk should be of interest to faculty, students, and general public interested in twentieth-century France and Germany, WWII, Jewish Studies, and the Holocaust.
